Hi, all! Still figuring out how posting here works, but glad to be here! I'm an amateur writer (current university student), but passionate about screenwriting, especially for television! One of my pilots placed 2nd in a college competition (hoping to get up to 1st soon enough, haha), and I'm also interested in stageplays!
Hoping to read and enjoy other people's work and get some eyes/advice on my own! Thanks, y'all!

Welcome, CJ. Be sure to check out the FAQs to get an idea of how things work here. That includes review assignments, which earns TalentDollars, then uploading your script and using those earned TDs to get others to read and critique yours. If you have questions about the process or the Biz, use the Bar & Grill to post and others will give their answers.

This is an excellent site to read various scripts; get feedback. Hope you enjoy the various opportunities here. If you get the chance to upgrade, the citizen status does provide a few more perks than tourist.

Welcome, Bailee, you should find a good number of other horrorish writers here. Be sure to check out the FAQs to get an understanding of our review system, our TalentDollars, which you use to 'buy' reviews of your scripts, and the rest of it.

Better late than never, Steve! When you have time, get a review assignment or two, earn some TalentDollars, and then when you have a completed script, get it uploaded and reviewed.

What are the specs required for images to be uploaded as a member's avatar?
Ben Cahan

There is a size limit of something like 4 megabytes, and acceptable formats are png and jpg.
Note that when the site uploads even a really big picture, it will reduce the size to a maximum size of 700x700 so that they load fast and don't eat up all our site storage.

Not quite new...
Been a member since 2011 when Talentville was new. Cancer and Chemo has limited my participation for some time now (time and focus/concentration issues). Thing are better now and I hope to get back to my previous participation levels. Comedy is my forte but wordcrafting is my love. I particularly enjoy speech writing, though those opportunities are not as rare as screenwriting but rare nonetheless, meaning...unpaid.

I try to read all the posts and must have overlooked this somehow. I'm sorry to hear about your illness, Tim, but I'm glad to hear you're better and planning on getting back into participating and writing. Personally, I find writing often keeps my mind off my problems. I hope it helps you, too.

please excuse 3rd person . Doing this at PT and impossible to rewrite here and now.
After suffering a massive stroke, crime fiction author, Jed Power, overcame his paralysis and wrote the eighth book in his Dan Marlowe/Hampton Beach, NH, Crime/Mystery series. At the same time, Power completed a Pilot episode adapting the first book in the series, ”The Boss of Hampton Beach,”into a one-hour Pilot for a proposed TV Series=="saving Hampton Beach."
Power has also completed a half-hour TV Pilot dramedy, “A Stroke of Luck” based on his stroke journey.
Log line—When a cynical, failed novelist suffers a disabling stroke and fears he has lost everything, his only hope of regaining any type of meaningful life comes from his quirky, yet courageous, fellow patients at a rehab hospital for the brain-damaged.
Think MASH upside down with the patients the primary characters and the staff as secondary.
Power Also has many short screenplays on Eddie Hoar and Derwood Doller , two bumbling, low-life beach hustlers based on characters from his crime Series. The shorts are easily adapted to TV or Features.
Power is now looking for a Manager, Agent or producer to help with any or all these projects.
Power admits that writing after a stroke had major obstacles. “Typing with one finger was the least of it,” Power said. He continued, “It brought me confidence though, just getting it done. In my eyes anyhow, it was an accomplishment.”

I found this site via Reddit. Hello!
After I've polished my screenplay I had been working on for like 4 years, I joined Reddit over a year ago, as advised by a friend. I swapped notes more than a couple of times. However, I'm still an outsider looking in. I honestly do not look forward into having a future in screenwriting, I'm just having fun, seeing my sci-fi novel get developed into a viable standards that might appeal to general public. My goal is to turn it into a graphic novel, one fine day, since I'm a visual artist by profession. I'm from Toronto, by the way.

Welcome, Ed, I think plenty of members have a script that has been in the process of 'polishing' for years, so you are not alone in that.
Since I am the main rah rah rah person here for getting involved, I guess I'd give a gentle push for you to get assignments, reviewing other folks' work, then getting your own script reviewed a few times, just to see what some other aspiring screenwriters think of it. Also, check out groups, maybe there is (or will be) some good sci-fi groups, or groups centered around adapting books to scripts. You could always start one, of course, then invite others to join.
So, happy to have you, get that script uploaded if you haven't already and get involved.

I just looked online at your Dan Marlowe/Hampton Beach books and read some about each. I love mysteries, read every night, have a stack yet to read, but I'm definitely putting yours on my list of "books to buy." And I'm looking forward to reading your script. Welcome to Talentville.

Peer Reviews?
Sorry about the tumbleweeds following me in when I opened the saloon doors. I thought I might find someone in here, but things look pretty vacant. Can anyone tell me about the peer reviews here?
