What are Assignments?
Very simply, they are screenplays that are assigned to you to read and review. When you get and complete a review assignment (submitting your written review and scoring the script in a number of ratings categories), you earn TalentDollars, our internal review currency. Those TalentDollars can then be spent to 'purchase' reviews of your own projects by other site members (via their own assignments, of course).
Why we assign scripts
To keep the process fair, you must read and review submissions we assign, within reason. This lets all residents get the reviews they have paid for. You can remove assignments that do not interest you or that you cannot complete in the week allowed, but we encourage everyone to at least try to complete the assignments we hand out.
The Time Limit
As just mentioned, there is a time limit to complete and submit your review or the assignment will be removed and given to someone else. This was done so that members would not get assignments and then just have them sit there forever, uncompleted. Please do not request an assignment if you don't intend to do a timely review, the author is patiently waiting to hear what you think.
Removing Assignments
You may remove one review assignment every 24 hours if you are assigned a submission that is not to your liking. The work will be assigned to someone else.
Write useful Reviews
As mentioned in the Review Pledge, please do your best to write reviews that will actually help the author make their script better. Don't skimp and write just the minimum if at all possible. Your reviews will be rated by others and the higher your reviewer score over time, the more others will want to reciprocate your reviews by reviewing your scripts. What comes around goes around, help make our community a useful tool for everyone.

The Talentville Review Pledge
For the greater good of the site, and to ensure our review and ratings system is meaningful, to authors as well as our Industry Partners, all reviewers must agree to the Talentville Review Pledge, indicating they will do their best to write thoughtful and useful reviews or risk losing the TalentDollars earned from reviews that fall below a minimum standard. In addition, reviewers who are repeatedly flagged for subpar reviews may (and likely will) lose their site reviewing privileges entirely.
Please read the following and click on the I Agree button below to acknowledge you have read and agree to be bound by The Pledge. Remember, authors are spending their TalentDollars to buy your review, and we expect all of our Residents to take their reviewing responsibilities seriously.
- To the best of my ability, I agree to write reasoned, thoughtful reviews.
- I agree to be respectful in my reviews, avoiding personal attacks and other offensive language relating to the script or the author, none of which is acceptable even in highly critical reviews.
- I agree to read assigned screenplays in their entirety. In rare cases when I simply cannot get through a script, I agree to either remove the assignment or to write a useful review that explains in detail my reasons for abandoning the script. I agree that I will not submit a review for credit if I have not read at least half of that script, at a bare minimum.
- If a review I submit falls below a rating score of 2.0 (the Minimum Acceptable rating) with 3 or more members having rated it, the review may be subject to a partial or full reversal of the TalentDollars earned for that review. All reversal decisions will be made by either the Talentville staff or a board of trusted, highly rated members.
- If my Overall Reviewer rating falls below a minimum of 2.0 for a period of 30 days, I understand that my account will be placed on probation, at which time I will do my best to improve the quality of subsequent reviews in order to raise my overall rating above the minimum score.
- If, while on probation, my overall rating does not rise above the minimum after subsequent reviews, I understand I may lose my site reviewing privileges entirely. Changes to review privileges will be made solely by the Talentville Staff on a case by case basis after due consideration
Reviews and Review Assignments are for Talentville Residents.
