About Assignments

What are Assignments?

Very simply, they are screenplays that are assigned to you to read and review. When you get and complete a review assignment (submitting your written review and scoring the script in a number of ratings categories), you earn TalentDollars, our internal review currency. Those TalentDollars can then be spent to 'purchase' reviews of your own projects by other site members (via their own assignments, of course).

Why we assign scripts

To keep the process fair, you must read and review submissions we assign, within reason. This lets all residents get the reviews they have paid for. You can remove assignments that do not interest you or that you cannot complete in the week allowed, but we encourage everyone to at least try to complete the assignments we hand out.

The Time Limit

As just mentioned, there is a time limit to complete and submit your review or the assignment will be removed and given to someone else. This was done so that members would not get assignments and then just have them sit there forever, uncompleted. Please do not request an assignment if you don't intend to do a timely review, the author is patiently waiting to hear what you think.

Removing Assignments

You may remove one review assignment every 24 hours if you are assigned a submission that is not to your liking. The work will be assigned to someone else.

Write useful Reviews

As mentioned in the Review Pledge, please do your best to write reviews that will actually help the author make their script better. Don't skimp and write just the minimum if at all possible. Your reviews will be rated by others and the higher your reviewer score over time, the more others will want to reciprocate your reviews by reviewing your scripts. What comes around goes around, help make our community a useful tool for everyone.
