The Story Maps HORROR & THRILLER Seminar Series
Posted by Daniel Calvisi
Ongoing thru April 5th @ 2am
Screenwriting Class
Horror is THE hot genre right now, no doubt about it. We should all be writing some kind of horror or thriller-adjacent material because in today's incredibly competitive landscape, the only movies that are consistently bankable in theaters and on streaming are genre films, and they are usually Horror or Thrillers with a high-concept hook that can be made for a reasonable budget. But, as you know, it's not easy to come up with a great concept.
It all starts with that idea. Concept is king in this industry, and we can all use help with crafting the next great idea that taps into a universal, primal fear and contains an undeniable hook. What better way to develop a concept for a commercial movie, tv series, novel or comic book in these genres than to field-test it with PROFESSIONALS with MAJOR FRANCHISE CREDITS?
I invite you to join me (a major studio Story Analyst and Writing Coach with over two decades of experience) and a lineup of Guest Speakers whose credits include FINAL DESTINATION, CABIN FEVER, THE MANOR, BLACK BEAR, SUMMER'S MOON, ZOMBIE AT 17, Netflix and Lifetime for a series of live calls and an online workshop on Monday and Friday evenings from March 10 - April 4, 2025.
