Layla O’Shea was born and raised in Boston, Massachusetts. After hours of playing baseball and running around pretending to be Superman, she grew up, went to college, graduated with an English/Communications Degree, worked full-time while raising three young kids until she discovered the art of the screenplay. Now, in addition to working full-time, she sets her clock for 4:55 a.m. (often actually getting up), splashes water on her face and writes until it’s time to go off to the “real” job.
Since immersing herself in screenwriting two years ago, she’s completed two features, THE INVISIBLE NOOSE and JUST SAY GOODBYE, as well as a short script, BLOSSOMS MALIGNED, which have all advanced in various competitions, including FilmMakers International Screenwriting Competition, The Page Awards and The Austin Film Festival Screenplay Competition. A new short, DEATH BY HIBACHI, is hot off the press. Since attending the AFF conference in 2011, she’s more determined than ever to forge her way into the business and make films that move people.
