I have a B.A. in Criminal Justice and minors in Psychology and History. Commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the US Army from the ROTC Program on June 6th 1980 (D-Day anniversary...very appropriate, I thought). Reached rank of captain, served in both Infantry and Armor branches from 1980-1994 both active duty and in the reserves. Victim of the Clinton RIF.
Army education: Infantry Officer Basic Course; Armor Officer Advanced Course; Jungle Operations School, Ft Sherman Panama; Nuclear, Biological, Chemical Warfare School. M1Abrams transition course. Scored EXPERT on the following weapons: M1911 .45 ACP, M16 Rifle; M203 Grenade Launcher; M2HB .50cal Machinegun. Scored "Marksman" on the M60 LMG and the Dragon anti-tank system. Unfortunately, the M240 SAW came after my time on active duty, but when I qualified on the M1 Tank, in the transition course, I got to live fire all of it's weapons, including the SAW.
I'm currently a teacher in the public schools and I am certified to teach everything in the social studies curriculum and pretty much have in the course of my career since 1990. I tend to excel at teaching American Government (especially Advanced Placement), Economics, Psychology and Sociology. Primarily I teach high school. I have spent the previous 14 years at the high school split between two inner city high schools. Taking a one year break now at a nice little middle school but hope to return to a high school NEXT year (2012-2013).
My writing reflects the time honored advice: WRITE ABOUT WHAT YOU KNOW, so I tend to concentrate on military, political or educational related themes. I do also like to combine these elements.
I have completed five screenplays, seven teleplays for established shows (some no longer on the air), three spec series pilots and a spec reality show.
