A Writer/Producer/Development Exec and also principal of the screenplay notes/coaching service, The Script Note (TheScriptNote.com), Brian Lubocki most recently worked as Vice President of Feature & Television Development at David Rotman Productions (known for Cliffhanger, Dragonheart) where he championed and developed Ellis Island with Martin Scorsese attached. Brian edited the book for, and optioned the movie rights to, Encyclopaedia of Hell picked up by Feral House Publishing and released in 2011, by 2-time Emmy Nominated Disney writer Martin Olsen. Brian also worked as an in-house writer for David Rotman Productions, having developed the feature I’m Depressed with director Dean Parisot (known for Fun With Dick and Jane, Galaxy Quest), and penned the feature The Beard which garnered meetings with actor Will Smith and producer Todd Black (known for The Pursuit of Happyness and Knowing). Brian has written television pilots for Fremantle Media (known for American Idol) and Adelstein-Parouse (known for Prison Break) and was hired on assignment by ARO Entertainment on a made-for-TV thriller movie. Brian was represented by Evolution Management and worked with their production wing, Twisted Pictures (known for Saw), in developing projects. Brian also semi-finaled in the Academy’s Nicholl Fellowship, interviewed and was Top 5% in the Warner Brothers Fellowship, and was the first writer to simultaneously win both of Creative Screenwriting Magazine’s TV competitions in 2007.
Brian has worked in all facets of TV and film physical production, including assisting the writer's room and on-set for the hit TV series Frasier, 2nd 2nd AD’ing for Cinemax, location scouting for MTV, and art department coordinating for notable horror director, Kevin Tenney, on Tick Tock. Brian spent several years working closely with and for actor Dom DeLuise, as everything from writer to tour manager.
Brian grew up in Porter Ranch/Northridge in Southern California’s San Fernando Valley. He graduated UCSB from the prestigious College of Creative Studies with a BA in English Literature. During college, he also was Track & Field Team Captain, a State Champion Level Polevaulter, Graduation Speaker, and Producer/Host of two annual all-day concerts that brought record-breaking college crowds to benefit the homeless. He went on to get his masters in screenwriting at USC, studying with writing greats such as Mel Shavelson, Shelley Berman and Stephen Mazur.
Brian lives in Woodland Hills with his wife and baby daughter and is in his fourth year of terrorizing the neighbors with his animated Halloween decorations.
