American (ex-Pat) residing in Sweden. [Retired] Work history: Self-employed entrepreneur, creative financier, and real estate developer (USA, South Africa, and Ireland). My writing skills are self-taught mainly in the development of business plans for projects of my own interest. Do these two genres of writing have a relationship? Yes, and it lies in creating images and painting pictures with words. Regardless, writing is something I do for enjoyment and personal entertainment. There should be no set-method to a writers artistic creation, other than following the simple 3-or-4 Act format. But, if following what is being preached on the street (so, to speak) we'd all be writing, as if, we're McKee'ites, or in the world of economics we'd be Keynesian'ites... and there is more to writing and economics than just the leading method of the day. Writing styles vary and change, as does all prose over time, or we'd all be speaking, as if, we're living in a 17th Century (England) "time-warp". If, copying someone style helps you... Great! I hope to keep learning with an open mind and handle the criticism as it comes, if it makes sense... use it! If, it doesn't make sense... Why? Maybe one's mind is changed? If not, move on. . . I hold no grudges and want to make no enemies... honesty always works!
With less than 1% of the scripts written ever making it to the production stage, the odds are pretty overwhelming that choosing script writing as one's career is dicey, at best; and, a total waste of one's life at worst. :) Therefore, my core believe is that one should write for enjoyment, embracing subjects that are of interest to YOU, and let the chips fall where they may... enuf' said, especially for someone who just jumped through a lot of hoops to join Talentville (looks interesting), just to ask... "Whatever happened to your blind date? :)
P.S. Congrats on one great looking website, someone really knew what they were doing. On a scale of 1-to-10... a definate 10!!!
Thx!
