About 3 years ago I messaged a friend of mine who is a producer in the UK. "I have a great idea for a film!" I told her. So she was polite, and told me to write a treatment (she explained what that was) and to send it to her. So I did, and she loved it.
She told me to write it, and I said, "Can't I just find someone else to write it?" She said "No. Learn how to write scripts and write it yourself." So after a year of procrastination, I started to study.
That's pretty much all I do now. I'm always reading something about screenwriting, or reading screenplays, or working on my scripts.
The idea I had that she told me to write? I still haven't attempted it. As we speak, it hasn't been made by anyone else, but that clock is ticking... I will get round to it, but for now I'm happy that I'm on the road at least. I owe my friend any success (or failure :) ) that I may or may not acquire. Best advice I have ever been given.
