I'm now in the second half of my first century of life. I have been involved in this industry for over 40 years. Over this span I have seen and done many things, some of them were even legal. All of them have meshed to become a part of me and that comes out in my writing. Writing is a way to take a journey along with the characters you create. Sometimes it is a journey that follows a pre-determined route. Other times the journey leads you down paths you never thought you would explore. This journey belongs to you, at least until you share it.
After having written 20 screenplays (and sold slightly fewer than half) I'm finally learning how to hone the craft. I have judged half a dozen screenplay competitions over the years and I know what works and doesn't work from both a technical and emotional end. The true challenge is being able to create something that is telling a good story about good characters in a way that people enjoy. No small task. But the fun is in the journey.
