A New England family is forced to turn to an old family friend and disgraced ex-Boston cop, to solve the murder of their father, before the murder is discovered. There is no disguising that this is a big, big picture. The script is now over 150 pages with the new Act I. It's a huge story, but for anyone interested in epic film making, this would fit the bill. The story is action-based and cinematic, but is also a solid character study focusing on the themes of family, friendship, failure, redemption and issues of character and the motivations of those in power, who sometimes resemble the criminal villains of the piece more than they'd like to admit.
The film begins emphasizing the early days of the protagonist, Marshall "Link" Lincoln and his buddies, several of which come from the most well-heeled of all the families that live on Cape Cod. After a dramatic turn of events for Link, the story shifts to the home of the wealthy and powerful Cape Cod-based family; the Standish's. After the patriarch of the family, Henry "Hank" Standish, Sr, is murdered, the children, chief among them a US Senator and the CEO of the family business, turn Link, now a disgraced ex-Boston cop turned security pro, and his friend, Cap James, to solve the crime, quietly, before the reasons for their father's murder become public, and would almost certainly ruin them, as well as Hank Sr's son's chances at The White House.
While the family's CEO son quietly conducts his own internal audit of the company books to confirm the identity of the killer, the motive having already been guessed at, our hero, his partner and the family's only daughter embark on a chase that leads them to exotic Zanzibar, Tanzania, the Serengeti and Athens, before the true identity of the killer can be confirmed.
With the killer now having learned that his days are numbered, our team returns from abroad and another chase ensues to apprehend him, before the climatic ending occurs along the cliff's of Martha's Vineyard.
