The opening scene is space. We come upon a vessel and follow it through the Milky Way to Earth and the Mojave desert where the Main Character, a distraught Medal of Honor winner, is camping.
He saves the members of his platoon in a bloody firefight, but shoots a child in the process. Trying to save the girl, he gets shot. He is released from active duty but can't live with the trauma of her death and attempts to take his own life. Drunk, he fails at that and blames it on the spacecraft landing nearby.
An alien from Arcturus disembarks and the two get to know one another. All too well when fighter jets threaten their wellbeing. They flee to the desert and the alien heals the MC's injured leg. Feeling obligated, the MC agrees to help the alien reach his rendezvous point; Mount Shasta in northern California.
After leaving a cafe, they meet the love interest; a beautiful Hopi Indian and her loveable golden retriever. They befriend one another and travel to Las Vegas. The MC gets in a knife fight with a bum, dies, and the alien brings him back to life.
Now, through all this, the army, air force, NORAD and Homeland Security are hot on their trail. The antagonist, a director with Homeland Security is ruthless and he makes it very clear that he will stop at nothing to capture or kill all four.
The four board a train, the antagonist finds out, and he devises a plan. The four are forewarned and his plan fails. So plan B goes into effect and the entire town of Mount Shasta and the mountain are inundated with air power and 30,000 troops.
Near the top of the mountain the director and eight heavily armed soldiers clash. The four are victorious and thinking it is over the spacecraft materializes and they begin saying goodbye ... only to be fired upon again by the director who regains consciousness.
A bullet hits the dog and the MC charges the antagonist and knocks him off a cliff where he hangs on for dear life. The MC is torn between which one to save. He ends up saving both. The antagonist's demeanor changes and he calls off the mission.
The four finally say goodbye, the spacecraft leaves and the MC, love interest and dog depart the area and begin a new adventure.
We end as we started, following a vessel through space and time.
