Cult of the Tiger Mom
"A Desperate Housewife joins a cult of Tiger Moms to discipline her Rebellious Children."
The Chinese-American Khu family just moved to San Jose. Marilyn (44) spends most of her time cooking and cleaning, but her entire family treats her with disrespect. Her husband Jimmy (45) is a workaholic who treats her like a slave. Her daughter Eva (15) is obsessed with boys and won’t listen to her. Her son Kasper (14) has no friends ans makes weapons for fun. Desperate for support, Marilyn turns to her only friend in town – Suki Lai, whom she grew up with back in China.
Suki, has become very successful in the business of schooling children – and introduces Marilyn to her gang of Tiger Moms: A group of influential and perfectionist Mothers that brag about their children constantly. They embarrass Marilyn for having rebellious, disobedient children.
Frustrated with Jimmy and her family's disrespect, Marilyn secretly enrolls Kasper and Eva into Suki’s summer program. There, Kasper meets Victoria (Suki’s daughter) and immediately becomes infatuated with her. On the other hand, Eva won’t shut her loud, foul mouth – so the Tiger Moms use physical discipline to train Eva. Meanwhile, Jimmy is left at home alone unsure of where his family is... until Eva alerts him to their whereabouts.
Jimmy arrives at the secret summer camp, but Marilyn shoos him away. She insists on reforming Kasper and Eva with her new Tiger Mom friends using Suki's unconventional methods. Frightened, Eva scrambles to call the local police only to see Suki bribe the officials. Eva convinces her Boyfriend to help her escape, but are no match for the all-too-seasoned Tiger Moms and the determined Marilyn, who captures and locks Eva in “the dungeon.”
Reformed, Eva becomes a robot and studies obsessively to cope with her new fate. During the prestigious Tiger Mom Award Ceremony, Marilyn stands up to Suki for her daughter's sake. Jimmy finds a newfound respect for Marilyn and the moment of truth comes together for Marilyn as she begins to see her children for who they are.
Back at home, as Marilyn serves dinner for her family, they gather around the warmly-lit dining table fully engaged in loving banter. It’s not easy to be a mom, a wife, and the glue that holds a family together... but she’s done her job.
