Everyone is familiar with science fiction tropes; alien invasions, humans exploring the galaxy, awesome new gadgets that we wish we could play with. DARK SPACE completely breaks down the foundations and reimagines them into a harrowing story of survival in an unforgiving universe.
An adventurous heroine’s journey, this film is a glimpse into an alien-dominated future in which humans face a bleak and displaced reality. Whatever chance humanity had at exploring the galaxy, they remained insignificant to the more advanced civilizations that have already claimed the stars.
Alex Chaser is not your typical heroine. She is not a warrior princess who deplores fighting. Nor is she the naive, average girl thrust into a world of danger and excitement. Alex Chaser is crass, petulant, hard-working, and independent. She's the girl who isn't afraid to bite back, take charge, and call out bull-shit. She has the determination of Sigourney Weaver from ALIENS, the charm of Karen Allen from RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK, and the caring of Jennifer Lawrence from HUNGER GAMES.
This script aims to completely rewrite how action sci-fi is made. Having researched tremendously in astrophysics and future-space tech, it will visualize a universe where space battles are fought more similarly to the naval/land tactics of the 18th Century. A MASTER AND COMMANDER or PIRATES IN THE CARIBBEAN in space. Instead of piloting snub-fighters like X-WINGS against TIE-FIGHTERS, soldiers dawn special suits, fighting freely in the openness of space.
This script is unique through and through. The concept, the characters, the setting, and the action work together to form a completely new world for the audience in the sci-fi/space film genre.
