A Sci-Fi Crime Drama with a strong female lead. That is "Dream Girl."
My name is Tamara Smith Roldan. I've been writing screenplays and spec scripts for several years and have won or placed in many writing competitions. Most recently, I've written “Dream Girl," which is a mix of shows like “Dexter,” “Medium” and “Orphan Black.”
The series is about a tortured, psychic woman named Melea who tries to thwart future violence foretold in her dreams. In the pilot, Melea awakens one night with visions of a young man shooting and killing 23 innocent people in a public library. Scared and compelled to act quickly, she reaches out to her former lover/ex-special forces operative Oscar to locate and neutralize the suspect before he can carry out his vicious rampage.
After utilizing clues from her dreams and enlisting the help of Oscar and the rest of their small, diverse team, Melea tracks down the suspect: a troubled young man named Lance. While the team works on their plan to stop Lance, complications arise, including Melea being hunted down by a Russian secret agency bent on using her psychic talents as a weapon against its country's enemies. Melea is also haunted by a mysterious presence during one of her dreams that leaves her conflicted and distracted. And she faces interference from one of her teammates, forensic psychiatrist Lydia, who believes she can save Lance through therapy.
Then, with the Russian’s closing in and time running out, Melea must make her move on Lance, or risk not only the loss of 23 innocent lives, but potentially the loss of her freedom as well.
With each episode, the"Dream Girl" will do what many of us wish we could do -- stop killers BEFORE innocent lives are lost. I believe with its unique characters, sci-fi suspense and high stakes, “Dream Girl” will appeal to a wide audience and has the depth and compelling back-story to last for many seasons to come.
