Episode Synopsis
There aren’t many opportunities for young Vinny in Little Italy. He’s been working for an evil landlord evicting people from tenements but doesn’t find that very gratifying. Pauly, a local mob boss Vinny has known since childhood, tries to recruit him to kidnap rich kids for ransom. He’s undecided until the local flower vendor is murdered by Lupo, an imported Sicilian assassin. He’s then persuaded to join the NYPD’s new Italian Squad headed up by Petrosino, a tough crime fighter. Divided loyalties complicate matters. Vinny is also dealing with a muddy love life. There is Sheila, a dancer who is not interested in him and Lucy a traditional good girl a fellow cop has also targeted. There’s also Mirabel a beautiful hooker on his beat. When Petrosino travels to Palermo in search of warrants for New York criminals he’s brutally murdered. Vinny persuades the police commissioner, Theodore Roosevelt, to send him to Sicily in search of the killer. Before leaving he discovers his mother, Lydia, is having an affair with Pauly, the local underboss.
