Description

HATE ME is a dark, character driven drama that follows Jeremy Franklin as he struggles with bipolar disorder, mild schizophrenia, drug addiction, alcohol addiction, and toxic relationships while trying to pursue his passion for music.

Jeremy starts in middle school where his mom tries to make him feel "normal" by hiding the fact that he has emotional problems. Then, in high school, he discovers his passion for music and gets his heart broken the first time. An assault charge lands him in a psychiatric ward for a year. While there, he discovers that writing and playing music is his medication. When he gets out, his brother helps him get some studio time to record a demo. He completes the demo and we fast- forward to 5 years later when he is married with a daughter and his band is getting pretty popular; but he is also addicted to alcohol and prescription pills. He hasnʼt been writing; heʼs been self-medicating. After his mother dies, he decides he needs to clean his act up and be a better father. He starts writing all the time and growing distant from his wife who ends up cheating on him. After writing a brutally dark and violent song, he gets dropped from the record label and loses custody of his daughter. In the end, though, Jeremyʼs ex-wife agrees to share custody of their daughter and Jeremy starts his own boutique record label. He is finally consistently happy because he has his two prescriptions... music and his daughter.
