Thoughts on Script Intelligence:
The new AI script coverage service
Recently, AI-based script coverage service Script Intelligence provided 3 free coverage reports to a few lucky Talentville members. All three of the winners (Lewis Papier, Evelina Lurye and Mike Rix) took advantage of the freebies and subsequently posted their thoughts on the new service, along with the coverage reports they received.
For those of you considering this new service, here is a compendium of the reactions from all three of the winners, along with links to read the coverage reports for yourself. Whether the use of AI in helping you hone and polish your script is something you might find useful is a personal decision, we hope the experiences of our members help you make your own decision.
Script Covered: Life and Death

“I recently used the Script Intelligence service for coverage on my thriller screenplay, Life and Death, and was thoroughly impressed with the feedback provided. As this was a first draft, I was already aware of certain weaknesses I intended to address in future rewrites. The service astutely identified many of these areas, confirming my initial impressions while offering fresh perspectives.
The coverage was both detailed and insightful, rivaling the quality of feedback I’ve received from human-based services in the past. One particular highlight was the comment: “I like the way you've woven complex themes of faith, justice, and the problem of evil into a genre piece. It's reminiscent of works like Se7en or The Silence of the Lambs, but with a unique theological twist.” These comparisons perfectly encapsulate the tone I was striving for, which reassured me that the core elements of the script are resonating as intended.
The service breaks the script down comprehensively, analyzing areas such as the synopsis, premise, first twenty pages, structure, character, dialogue, setting, pacing, tone, and transitions. Each section included constructive criticism and actionable suggestions for improvement, along with a balanced assessment of the screenplay's strengths and weaknesses.
Ratings on each of these aspects might make a nice addition to the report.
Overall, I was highly satisfied with the service and will undoubtedly use it again in the future. For those interested, I have uploaded the coverage report to my profile.”
Script Covered: Pogromshchik
Coverage Report: https://www.talentville.com/snippet/script-intelligence-report-on-pogromshchik
“Recently, I had the opportunity to submit my script, Pogromshchik, to Script Intelligence for evaluation. The feedback I received was detailed and thoughtful, but my overall experience left me with mixed feelings.
On the positive side, the analysis highlighted some compelling elements of my script, particularly its ambitious scope and the moral and historical weight of its central themes. It was gratifying to see the evaluator acknowledge the dramatic potential of Sholom Schwarzbard’s story and praise the courtroom scenes’ intensity and historical resonance. There were also some actionable suggestions, such as fleshing out the antagonist, Simon Petlura, to make him feel like more than a symbolic villain. This idea, in particular, struck me as a valuable direction for further development.
However, there were also areas where I felt the feedback fell short. Much of the critique centered on structural changes, such as reducing the flashbacks and focusing more on Sholom’s present-day life. While these suggestions are intriguing, they don’t align well with the character's nature or the narrative focus of the script. Sholom is a deeply introspective loner, and his interactions before the assassination lack the kind of dramatic intensity the flashbacks bring. This makes the proposed changes difficult to implement without losing the emotional weight of the story.
Another challenge was the lack of specificity in the feedback. For example, several points were made about reordering scenes or trimming content, but without references to specific moments in the script, it’s hard to know exactly what to adjust. More targeted examples would have made the evaluation much more actionable.
Overall, Script Intelligence provided a thorough and thoughtful review that was useful in some respects but left me wanting more practical, scene-specific guidance. If you're looking for a broad-strokes analysis and suggestions to fine-tune your story’s structure or character depth, this service might be a good fit. However, for those needing more granular feedback, you may find yourself wishing for a bit more precision.
For me, the most valuable takeaway was the emphasis on developing Petlura’s character, which I plan to explore further. But the suggestion to restructure the flashbacks? That’s a much harder sell.
Ultimately, Script Intelligence offered a fresh perspective on my script and raised questions that will shape my revision process. Whether this type of feedback is right for you depends on your expectations and where you are in your writing journey.”
Script Covered: Roulette

“I recently used the Script Intelligence service. I think the feedback was pretty spot on. It was interesting that it was AI because it sounded like a person who used personal opinions like "I think" and "I feel" which made me wonder if it was a real person. Although the feedback was provided at record speed within a few hours so I know it's probably AI. I liked how it gave me specific actionable advice and mentioned examples of parts that dragged. Overall, it seemed to understand the core idea I'm trying to relay and suggested how to focus in for impact. For instance here's an exert:
"One character I think could use more development is Grisha, Vera's uncle. He's introduced as an important figure, but doesn't play as significant a role in the story as I expected. Consider either expanding his role or reducing his presence if he's not crucial to the main plot."
I totally agree to develop some of the characters and sub plots further or remove them to focus more on a central conflict. I found it encouraging and supportive of the concept. Other feedback I received for this script were missing the point or not knowing who was the central character or picking at certain formatting issues. I didn't actually get much feedback on script formatting from this service. It was a good 10 pages of helpful suggestions with what worked and what could be improved. This feedback was more focused on core story pacing, dialogue, characters, concept originality, etc.
I won the service from the raffle but I would use it again. I could not distinguish the feedback from professional coverage I've received in the past that was from a human reader (or supposedly from a human reader but really was also AI).”
